The Edinburgh Playhouse opened in the late 1920’s. It has a beautiful frontage, deceptive of it’s actual size which goes down under street level. It was the largest building of it’s kind when it was built and still stands in it’s original form though is now used for theatrical performances and performing arts. In the 1970’s the building was scheduled for demolition can you believe, but thankfully this was revoked in 1974 as a petition to save the venue was signed by over 15,000 people. It then became a listed building and rightfully so.
